Top Problem Areas of Your Roof

Having a regular roof inspection is the key to spotting issues before they turn into something serious. It is super important to know the top problem areas of your roof so you can have an idea of what to look for when doing a roof inspection. In this article Accl Roofer has listed some of the top problem areas of your roof that you should be checking.

Shingles:

The most common problem area of a roof is the shingles. They offer great protection but are prone to discoloration and curling. Spotting areas of missing or broken shingles can leave the underlying wood susceptible to holes, rotting, and other damages. Shingles mostly get their wear and tear from rainfall, temperature, snow, and aging causing them to curl up and wear down. Check your roof often to determine whether  or not your shingles might be in need of a replacement.

Eavestroughs:gutter

Eavestroughs, gutters and downspouts direct rain water and melting snow off the roof and away from the shingles into areas away from the foundation. Excessive buildup of leaves and debris in your gutters, causes the water to not be able to flow freely potentially causing problems with your roof.  If the water from the downspouts doesn’t make it far away enough from the home, it can pool around the foundation of the home causing hydrostatic pressure on the foundation with possible crawl space or basement flooding. Therefore, regular inspection is important. When inspecting your roof, check for the buildup of debris in the eavestrough. Debris is what can cause clogs that prevent proper drainage that damages your roof.

Fascia:

Fascia is an architectural term for a band running horizontally and situated vertically under a roof edge. Typically, fascia is known as roof trim- or the front board along your roof line. Fascia consists of a wooden board or sheet metal and is used to protect the edge of your roof and interior of your building from weather damage. Since weather causes wear and tear it is important to inspect fascia often to insure there are no signs of damage.
